Anything is possible

in Life

Wow! How long has it been? I guess inspiration is in short supply these days.

So why now?

Every so often, one comes face to face with an attitude of life that says “Anything’s possible.” In my case, it’s been almost 6 months. Whilst on my daily trawls through the abundance of modern day garbage (internet feeds) in hope of finding gold dust, I happened to chance upon some familiar faces from the bygone era. It seems bygone to me, but these faces are still in their youth and alive with hope and passion.

Flash back around 20 years, and you will see me on the 2nd floor of an apartment block in an area which is now called old Dubai. Alongside me, you will see two little girls I’m looking after for a couple of hours whilst their parents run some errands. They were part of a very close family, and we used to spend almost every other weekend together – picnics, movies and dinners!

Fast forward today, and these girls are now post-grads, experiencing what life has to offer and assimilating all the cultural influences to form their own unique identities. They view life and it’s ideology in a different space and time. They belong to this generation, yet seem to be revolting against the same. They are Indians, yet global. The little girls I remember were once… well, just little girls.

They are now out to inspire, and be inspired. For someone who once related to them in a different context, I find terrific inspiration in seeing their growth as individuals. Where once, someone would have averaged them out in the populous of life, they have proven that to stand out is not difficult. Just need to believe.

Where today, most would give up and be satisfied with just being average, the “I am what I am” attitude of these girls is creating a new space for a new generation to exist. Technology is embraced for positive change. Tradition is embraced for rooted values. Globalisation is embraced for new challenges. Cross-cultural boundaries are being blurred for one existence.

Perhaps it’s just my momentary burst of inspiration talking! But this much I now feel and believe. Today is possible. The future is possible. You just have to believe.

Be who you are. Average is just not good enough.

Anything is possible.
